  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter Cut into pieces
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

  • 2 1/2 cups Powdered sugar Sift for best results
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

  • Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Do not stir.
  • Cook, swirling the pan occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and turns a deep amber color.
  • Carefully pour in the heavy cream (it will bubble up!). Whisk constantly until smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the butter, salt, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Let the caramel cool slightly before gradually adding the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth and creamy.
  • Beat with an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes for a lighter, fluffier frosting.
  • Frost your favorite baked goods and enjoy!

Notes

For a richer caramel flavor, use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar. Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
